The sky wheel
The twelve signs of the zodiac on a wheel of twelve places, like the quarter of the palindrome on the chord wheel. For any date and place, the page computes where the Sun, the Moon and the planets are, draws their aspects, lays the palindrome's values under the signs, and turns the signs the planets occupy into notes: the chord the sky makes. Astrology is a symbolic tradition, not science; this page is a playful exploration, and the astronomy under it is real.

About this page
The sky. Positions are tropical and geocentric (seen from the Earth, measured along the ecliptic from the spring equinox), computed in your browser from orbital elements with Kepler's equation and the main perturbations of the Moon, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus (after P. Schlyter, How to compute planetary positions). Checked against Astrolog 7.80 for 8 October 2026, 18:50 UT at Sabadell: every body within 0.05°, the ascendant and midheaven within 0.01°. The node is the Moon's mean north node. The starting point was the author's own spreadsheet, built on T. Singal and A. K. Singal, Determining planetary positions in the sky for ±50 years to an accuracy of 1° with a calculator (arXiv:0910.2778); the method here keeps more terms, so it holds to a few arcminutes over centuries.
The wheel. As on a classic chart, Aries starts at the left and the signs run counterclockwise; the houses are the signs themselves ("null" or whole-sign houses, house 1 = Aries). The ascendant (Asc) and midheaven (MC) for the place are marked on the rim. Aspects are the classic angles between two bodies: conjunction 0°, sextile 60°, square 90°, trine 120°, opposition 180°, within the orb.
The notes and the palindrome. The twelve signs are the twelve places of a quarter of the palindrome: Aries is n = 1 and the key sits on it, as on the chord wheel, with the same layouts and pure tunings. The values under the signs are the quarter n = 1–12. With the cycle's own notes a palindrome window appears: it moves the section of the cycle under the signs (◀ ▶ one step, ⏭ the next section: n = 1, 13, 26, 38), and the notes come from that section, since the walk starts on the key at the step before it. Which note goes on which sign is a choice, not something the sky or the formula gives.
