Turn any list of numbers into music. Each number n is sent through the formula to its residue H(n), which becomes silence, a unison, an octave, a fifth or a fourth above a root note. Listen in just intonation, then download the result as a MIDI file to open in any music software.
The tuning is used here and in the MIDI file. MIDI notes are equal-tempered, so the file gives each sounding note its own channel with a pitch bend (range ±2 semitones, set in the file), and any General MIDI synthesizer plays the tuning. The cycle's own ratios are measured from the root; the 12-note tunings are measured from the root as tonic, so in Pentametric fifths the fourth above the root is reached by eleven fifths up and sounds 21.5 cents high.
